1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Bars application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
Bars is a self-care and personal growth mobile application. The App provides:
- Daily motivational quotes with customizable themes and backgrounds
- An AI-powered personal assistant for guided introspection and conversations
- Weekly goal setting, daily check-ins, and mood tracking
- A personal growth journal for reflections on quotes
- A personalized growth profile with dimension tracking
- Bookmarking and sharing of quotes
3. AI Chat Assistant
The App includes an AI-powered personal assistant that provides conversational guidance, introspection prompts, and personalized insights. By using the AI assistant, you acknowledge and agree that:
- The AI assistant is not a licensed therapist, counselor, or medical professional. Its responses are for informational and motivational purposes only and should not be considered medical, psychological, or professional advice.
- Your chat messages and relevant profile context are transmitted to third-party AI providers (OpenAI via OpenRouter) to generate responses. See our Privacy Policy for details.
- You must provide explicit consent before using AI features. You may decline and continue using the App without the AI assistant.
- AI-generated content may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your situation. You should exercise your own judgment.
- You should not share sensitive personal information (financial details, passwords, or information about third parties) in AI conversations.
- If you are in crisis or need immediate help, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline. The AI assistant is not equipped to handle emergencies.
4. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases
Bars offers optional premium subscriptions that unlock additional features, including unlimited AI conversations, personalized messages, additional themes, and monthly hearts.
- Subscriptions are billed through Apple's App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's App Store settings at any time.
- Free trial periods, if offered, automatically convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before the trial ends.
- We reserve the right to change subscription pricing. Existing subscribers will be notified of price changes in advance.
5. Hearts & Virtual Currency
The App uses "hearts" as an in-app virtual currency. Hearts are used to access certain features such as AI conversations. Hearts are granted to premium subscribers on a monthly basis and may also be earned through app usage. Hearts have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are non-transferable.
6. User Conduct
You agree to use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the App in any way that violates any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its related systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App
- Use the AI assistant to generate harmful, abusive, or illegal content
- Collect or harvest any information from the App without authorization
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as professional advice
7. User Content & Data
You retain ownership of the content you create within the App, including journal entries, chat messages, and personal goals. By using the App, you grant us a limited license to process this content solely to provide and improve our services. You may request deletion of your data at any time through the App settings or by contacting us.
8. Intellectual Property
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. AI-generated responses are provided for your personal use and may not be redistributed commercially.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. AI-generated content is provided without any guarantee of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Limitation of Liability
In no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content or advice.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
